'The Accompanist' Launches Its Ground-Breaking Piano Backing Tracks For Performing Arts Audition Preparation

Conceived by Tim J. Spencer, 'The Accompanist' allows audition candidates to rehearse their favourite musical theatre songs without having to use traditional 'tacky' karaoke tracks

Every performer dreads their next audition, often compounded by the need to rehearse songs alongside cheap-sounding karaoke tracks. However, a UK musician and songwriter is about to change the audition preparation process forever with 'The Accompanist' collection.

The collection provides classical piano backing tracks for songs from some of the entertainment world's most loved movies and musical theatre shows. By rehearsing with the collection's classic piano sound, performers can closely mimic the actual audition environment and thus better prepare.

"This venture has expanded very rapidly," says Spencer. "I've been lucky enough to have prestigious names jump on board and allow me to use their songs. For example, Disney have allowed me to license a number of their tracks, including the Oscar-winning 'Let it Go'. West End/Broadway legends Stephen Schwartz and Frank Wildhorn have also partnered with The Accompanist project."

Continuing, "The audition preparation process is incredibly tough right now as most performers practice alongside tacky karaoke tracks. When they then step into the actual audition room they have to sing the same song alongside a single piano. By releasing some of musical theatre's most cherished songs performed in a classic piano style, actors and singers can bring the actual audition environment into their own homes. It's something singers and actors have been demanding for a very long time."

Many of the albums are segmented for male and female voices, ensuring that each purchase contains only tracks suitable for the customer's vocal range.

"We've got albums such as 'The Female Solos of Stephen Schwartz' and 'Heroes and Princes'. However, 'The Solo Songs of Frank Wildhorn' and 'Musical Theatre Duets' are for both male and female voices - so there really is something available for everyone," Spencer adds.

With the collection expanding, Spencer also invites all performers to get in touch with suggestions for new songs they want to take to auditions.
