Indie Rock Band The Bergamot Beats 3,500 Other Bands To Win Music Marketing Campaign Courtesy Of Web ‘n Retail On ReverbNation
The selection process was arduous. The Web ‘n Retail selection committee listened to, and scored, every single track of the 3,555 tracks submitted, and narrowed the entries down to the top 1,000 via a point system. From there, the top 1,000 entries were given additional points for having a (marketable) video, a social/fan following of over 2,500, existing press and/or a new release coming soon; the more elements, the better. That narrowed it to 200 finalists. To be certain the final selection was not simply the result of any one staffer’s personal taste, the entire Web ‘n Retail selection committee of 4, each listened to, and assigned individual scores for the music (only) which were then averaged, resulting in a 3 way tie. The final winner, The Bergamot won out as a result of having more elements in place and up-coming than the other 2.
The Bergamot is a Brooklyn-based band consisting of Jillian Speece on vocals and Nathan Hoff on guitar and vocals. This husband and wife duo are the architects behind the vibrant, American Indie, Folk Rock-inspired sound – powered by unbreakable harmonies with seamless songwriting adeptness that combines a story of both the joys and heartaches of life. The Bergamot has played numerous shows ranging from acoustic to full band productions in the USA, Bahamas, Germany, France, Belgium, and Italy. They played at US festivals like SXSW, Taste of Chicago, The Traverse City Film, and many more, in and around the USA. They have also shared the stage with All American Rejects, Young The Giant, and Wiz Khalifa! The Bergamot released their first EP in 2010, and followed it up with 2 other albums in 2011 and 2012. Right now, they have a highly anticipated album set to release in the winter of 2014.
