AUGUST 13 2014-- On Thursday, August 21st at 8pm Fiona Silver will premiere the music video for her newest single “Sandcastle” at the Knitting Factory. Silver will share the stage at the Brooklyn hotspot with rising Australian band Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes. “Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes are one of the best soul bands out there today,” Silver muses. “I was mesmerized when I saw them perform live, and I knew immediately that I wanted to share a bill with them one day. About a year later, that opportunity manifested, and I’m honored to be sharing the stage with them and growing in an international community of artists. ”

“Sandcastle” which was directed by noted photographer Leslie Van Stelten features Silver’s signature catchy songwriting and alluring voice while celebrating summertime with a heavy nod to ‘50’s nostalgia. Silver says, “Leslie Van Stelten is a creative genius with a unique perspective and an incredible ability to make things look beautiful. When I decided to make this music video I wanted it to be filmed in a candid, home-movie style and I knew in order to really get the feeling I wanted, I would have to work with someone I truly trusted. I knew that Leslie’s talent with the camera could expand from photography to film and so we made it together, along with our good friend dnicole who curated the beauty on set- makeup, hair, and even the sandcastle! The whole project was an intimate experience that I believe translates on screen in a natural way.”

Silver, whose sound combines the influences of Billie Holiday to Courtney Love, is quickly making a name for herself on the NYC scene, already receiving accolades from NPR, Go! Magazine who nominated her for Best Musical Performer, and Curve Magazine who had her high on their list of Most Desirable Women between Pink and Tegan & Sara.

Make sure to make it to Knitting Factory on August 21st to hear Silver’s edgy and soulful songs and be the first to view “Sandcastle.”
