Unsigned Bands Get a Shot At Stardom with Bandemonium, Sam Goody`s
Band Search; Nationwide Competition Lets Bands Compete for $20,000
Prize Package

MINNEAPOLIS--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1999--With the 20th
century quickly coming to an end, the search is on to find the hottest
new music for the next millennium. So for the fifth consecutive year,
Sam Goody is conducting one of the largest unsigned band competitions
in the country. The contest is called Bandemonium, and for musicians
looking for a big break, this could be the chance of a lifetime.

"Sam Goody is committed to being on the cutting edge of music and to
helping talented new bands get their music heard," said Marcia Appel,
Senior Vice President of Advertising, Brand Management and
Communications. "We know there are a lot of incredible musicians out
there and we want to do what we can to help them succeed."

Bands can enter Bandemonium free of charge by sending in a demo tape
along with their name, phone number and address to: Sam Goody's
Bandemonium, 120 North Victory Boulevard, 3rd Floor, Burbank, CA,
91502. Entries must be received by October 31.

The demo tapes will be judged by representatives of the SFX Network
Group, who will select the two best bands in each of eight regions
across the country. The quarterfinalists will then compete
head-to-head as the opening acts for a major national headlining act
that will be touring the eight regions between January and March next
year.

A panel of judges, including a local radio representative and a record
label representative, will award $500 to the winning band in each
region. Judges will then select the top two bands to travel to Panama
City, Florida, where they will compete as the opening acts for a major
Spring Break concert.

The Grand Prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges after the
Spring Break show. The winning band will receive a prize package worth
more than $20,000. This includes cash, studio time with a producer to
work on a demo tape, and Gibson musical equipment including an SG
Standard guitar, an SG-Z bass guitar, amplifiers, and a five-piece
Slingerland Spitfire drum kit.

Pepsi is once again the title sponsor for Bandemonium, marking the
company's fourth year of involvement. This is the second year Gibson
has signed on as a sponsor.
