Independent Music Magazine Indie Band Guru Launches Indiegogo Campaign
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK, NY, January 7, 2018 — Indie Band Guru (IBG), an NYC-based online music magazine, will launch an Indiegogo campaign on January 8. The funds from the campaign will be used to launch Knowledge To Get Known, a suite of resources and services to help independent musicians advance their careers.
Indie Band Guru was founded 9 years ago by Keith Profeta as a way to help support and promote musicians working in the independent and do-it-yourself (DIY) music scenes. As IBG’s reach and readership grew, so did their ambitions.
“We have built a pretty nice platform for helping independent musicians get the word out about their music,” said Profeta, “I have so much passion for indie music, and the artists that make it. I always wanted to do more to share the knowledge I have picked up along the way.”
Profeta — who has worked in bands, band management, marketing, and promotion — has a lot of insider knowledge to share.
That’s where the idea for Knowledge To Get Known was born. In addition to music reviews, IBG started to occasionally publish “Knowledge” articles, pieces containing tips and tricks that indie musicians can use to increase their reach.
“Knowledge To Get Known will be separate from Indie Band Guru,” said Profeta. “It will have regularly published ‘Knowledge’ articles, a podcast, instructional videos, and a lot more. We will also be offering services for bands, like reviews on IndieBandGuru.com, social media strategy programs, artist coaching, and so on.”
With rewards tiers ranging from $5 to $500 contributions, IBG’s Knowledge To Get Known Indiegogo campaign has something for everyone, from music fans to new artists to bands with indie label contracts. The $5,000 goal will go toward building a new website, purchasing professional equipment, and hiring professionals and experts to contribute and grow the platform.
