MARK BEGO’S BOOK “EAT LIKE A ROCK STAR” MET WITH CRITICAL ACCLAIM And HITS EIGHT BEST-SELLER LISTS

With over 12 million books in print in the rock & roll biography category, when best-selling author Mark Bego decided that his 62nd published book was going to be a cookbook called Eat Like a Rock Star, people started questioning this sudden career move. However, Skyhorse Publishing instantly recognized Bego’s vision, and the resulting cookbook has turned out to be such a critical and sales success, that “Chef” Bego has already begun to gather recipes for “Volume 2” of Eat Like a Rock Star.
Assisted by his close friend, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, in 2012 Bego came up with the idea for Eat Like a Rock Star, and he started gathering recipes for it. The test case was Boz Scaggs. When Bego interviewed Scaggs, and asked him if he cooked, Mark ended up getting three separate recipes from the famed singer. He took it from there, and began to compile favorite recipes from the likes of Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, Marilyn McCoo of The Fifth Dimension, Debbie Gibson, Thelma Houston, Dennis DeYoung of Styx, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi, Joey Fatone, and dozens more. In addition, Mary Wilson wrote the Introduction to the book.
Bego debuted Eat Like a Rock Star in October of 2017, it immediately began to hit the charts, peaking at Number Three on one of Amazon.com’s cookbook best-seller lists. It is still on three of their charts. The public and the press responded immediately, and the glowing reviews started to pour in, as the book has briskly sold.
Gary Graff of The Oakland Press wrote, “When Mark Bego started interviewing pop stars back in the mid-’70s, he had no idea he’d one day be cooking with them. Or writing about what they cooked…the book features 118 recipes from 46 artists!” Keith Girard in Celebrity Health & Fitness claimed, “Mark Bego is shifting gears with a big, bold and colorful cookbook. But he’s not straying too far from his genre.” Nancy Berk in Parademagazine claimed, “Mark Bego has always been a cook and foodie, which makes Eat Like a Rock Star, his 62nd book and his first cookbook, the perfect project!”
Cindy Adams in The New York Post especially had fun with the rock & roll theme to the book. According to her, “Now comes Mark Bego’s Eat Like a Rock Star. More than 100 rock ‘n’ roll recipes. I mean, please. Maybe yummies begin like ‘Saute two lines?’”
Bego not only compiled the rock star recipes, but he also added his own recipes and photographed all of the food photos in the book. “I prepared every single dish, so who better to capture it visually? If I can make this delicious and colorful-looking food, so can you,” proclaims the author. The full-color cookbook is the most lavishly produced released publication of the author’s career. According to Bego, “This book has been a true labor of love for me, and I am thrilled that it has been so enthusiastically received. I had been wanting to have a change-of-pace book that would add to and complement the rest of my rock & roll career. Now that Eat Like a Rock Star is officially a Top 10 hit, I feel like a rock star myself!”
In addition to several TV appearances to promote Eat Like a Rock Star, in December Bego made some very successful personal “meet the author” appearances at two Barnes & Noble stores, one in Hackensack, New Jersey and one in Nyack, New York. Plans are now being put together to do the similar events on the West Coast, specifically in California, Arizona and Phoenix.
