New Single Review - Mark Schirmacher – “Are You Okay”
Many researchers have proven that music has the ability to cure both physical and mental injuries quite effectively. Soulful music easily finds its path to reach one’s heart and bear open the soul to heal the tiny little sores that have accumulated and kept one barren and secluded from the rest.
Mark Schirmacher is one of those talented artist from Minnesota who has immense potential to craft his songs in a way that gives the listener a certain sense of calmness and resilience that helps one to grow in life. ‘Are You Okay’ is one such gem from his new album ‘Bird In Your Tree’ which keeps the listener glued to the magical aura it creates so magnificently.
‘She saw you, staring at the moon,’ marks a remarkable beginning to the lyrics of the song which starts over a beautiful piano prelude. The song could seem rather slow with Mark voicing the words swiftly, taking his own little pauses and strokes, but once the song starts and glides over the next few lines, the strong soulful emotions spreads like a whirlwind to evokes the little grey corners of one’s heart.
‘Are You Okay’ is not a happy, romantic track nor is it a completely sad song that leaves its listener’s depressed and downcast. The single lies somewhere in between with a strong hue of the shade grey, where as it pricks at one’s hidden lonesome desire, it also leaves the person feeling contented and ‘Okay’.
The instrumental backdrop of the song is worth mentioning. Mark has deliberately used very few instruments which play simple and well synchronized notes to amalgamate well with the lucid and expressive lyrical structure of the song.
Euphonious piano notes predominating in most part of the track, the song also has some mellifluous tones that one can relish forever. Mark has a brilliant firmness in his voice which makes the song even more eloquent and interesting. Sailing on the ship of discrete emotions, this melodious track does mesmerize its audience into a world full of warmth, intensity and passion.
Mark is not only a true musical genius but an amazing poet and this particular single proves every bit of his flair with each words he mouths. ‘Find your smile, tired and sore’ or ‘When was the last time that you have cried, was it back in your homeland or just the last night,’ are few instances in the song which intensifies the darker side of life. But right when your heart might brood over the feeling of despair, Mark brings a brighter light of positivity and optimism in his lyrical structure and inspires to ‘step out’ of the inner gloominess. He very we his ll kept words simple and relatable but the strength and power of the words keep echoing in the heart even when the song has ended long back.
‘Are You Okay’ also has a eye-soothing video associated with the song which showcases Mark singing and also playing the mouth organ. As much as his voice expresses the impact of the song, so does his eyes, that never fail to revert back the feelings inside. One can clearly watch the passion he bears inside him. ‘Are You Okay’ is surely a shining diamond from the best of the gems in the album which is sure to inspire many young hearts to realise the power and strength of passionate music.
