MeasureCast Reports Internet Radio Listening Has Almost Quadrupled In 2001

PORTLAND, Ore. December 17, 2001 - MeasureCast, Inc., the first company to provide Internet radio broadcasters with next-day streaming audience size and demographics data, today reported that the weekly MeasureCast Internet Radio Listening Index· rose more than 9% to an index value of 397, meaning the total time spent listening (TTLS) since January has almost quadrupled.

MeasureCast Top 25

JazzFM regained the top spot in the Weekly MeasureCast Top 25· list, streaming more than 218,000 hours to almost 66,000 unique people during the week of December 10 through the 16th. Virgin Radio's Hot Adult Contemporary station - 1215 AM/105.8 FM - placed second, streaming 214,506 hours to an estimated 35,774 unique listeners. Cablemusic Network's two Christmas stations streamed a total of 165,511 total hours. 20 of the week's Top 25 stations streamed more hours than they did the previous week, while 20 counted larger audiences (or Cume).

Other facts for the week of December 10 - December 16:
· 81.4% of all listening occurred between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific.
· The peak listening hour was 11 a.m. Pacific, with 8.78% of the day's listening.
· 10.25% of the week's TTSL occurred over the weekend.
· The peak listening day was Monday, Dec. 10, with 19.4% of all TTSL.
· The largest age group listening to Internet radio: 25-34 year-olds (28.5%).
· 56% of listeners were under 35; 27.5% were younger than 25; 7.4% were over 55.
· 70% of listeners were men; 30% were women.
· Top streaming nations include the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, France and Mexico.
· 33.7% of US listeners were from the South, with the Western US accounting for 29% of all listeners.
