XM Satellite Radio & Oasis CD Manufacturing Introduce Unique Indie-Music Radio Program

Bookmark and Share

America's leading satellite radio service is joining independent music's leading CD manufacturer to bring unsigned music to the mainstream. Together, XM Satellite Radio and Oasis CD Manufacturing (a specialist in CD replication/ CD duplication for independent musicians) are creating six new hour-long Indie music radio programs that will be featured on a weekly special called "67:89", which airs every Thursday at 6pm Pacific, 7pm Mountain, 8pm Central & 9pm Eastern. Each week 67:89 takes a look at a different facet of the Unsigned world.

67:89 is hosted by Billy Zero, a veteran Washington, D.C.- area DJ. Zero is a tireless advocate for Indie musicians; his dedication stirred label interest for acts like Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Good Charlotte and others. Zero also instigated the creation of a "Locals Only" stage at one of the largest rock festivals in the country so that best unsigned regional bands could be heard live by thousands of music fans.

Says Zero, "Today's unsigned bands are tomorrow's stars. People want to hear them now -- independent music shouldn't be hidden away in the wee hours of the night."

Each of the first six XM/Oasis programs will focus on a different musical genre and will include songs by at least twelve unsigned artists. Artist and song selections will be drawn from Oasis Sampler CDs -- compilation recordings created by Oasis to provide radio promotion for their clients.

The first show, "67:89 - Oasis Alternative," will feature alternative rock musicians and will air May 8th, 2003 on XM Satellite Radio's Unsigned Channel.

"We're always looking for ways to smooth the path for Indie musicians," said Oasis President Micah Solomon. "Airplay is critical in order for a musician to develop a fan base and sell CDs, but competing with major labels for airplay is very, very tough. We try to use Oasis' visibility and reputation for excellence to get independent artists the attention they deserve from labels."
