It's Official: Courtney Love Is A Virgin
Courtney Love, musician, singer, actress and one of the most compelling artists in popular culture, has signed an exclusive worldwide contract with Virgin Records, it was announced today by Matt Serletic, Chairman and CEO, Virgin Records. Love is now completing work on America's Sweetheart, which will be her first album to be released under her own name. Recorded at an ancient chateau in the South of France and completed in Los Angeles and New York, the album further refines the unique vocal and songwriting skills that have long made Love one of the most compelling figures in rock. Featuring several songs written in collaboration with Linda Perry (currently enjoying worldwide success with tracks she wrote for Pink and Christina Aguilera), America's Sweetheart combines driving guitars and undeniable melodies to create an album that is both her most creative and most commercial to date. Love wrote, sang and played guitar in the legendary Los Angeles rock band Hole. Hole released three of the most celebrated rock albums of the 90s: Pretty on the Inside, Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. Live Through This, featuring "Miss World," "Doll Parts" and "Violet," was named 1994's Best Album of the Year in the prestigious Village Voice Pazz & Jop Critics Poll. Celebrity Skin debuted at #9 in the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart in 1998 and the title track and "Malibu" were both massive hits at Rock and Modern Rock radio, with "Celebrity Skin" reaching #1 in its first week. Both of Hole's albums for DGC have earned Platinum awards in the US and around the world. "There is no one more recognizable in rock than Courtney Love.
