Trade Organization Fights Back With Its Own "Royal-Tz"
(For Immediate Release) Las Vegas, NV, July 29, 2003 - Music-Lovers who are fed up with the treatment they've been receiving at the hands of the RIAA now have a chance to vent their frustration with the help of a VooDoo Doll named "Royal-Tz" (pronounced "Royalties"). Las Vegas-based Webcaster Alliance, the streaming media trade organization that recently announced its intention to pursue the RIAA in court on the grounds of Anti-competitive behavior, has developed a "Stick-it to the RIAA" campaign in response to the RIAA's latest actions against consumers in the file-sharing debate. "We have talked to hundreds of people who are frustrated with the actions of the RIAA," said Ann Gabriel, President of Webcaster Alliance, "and while we can reassure them that Webcaster Alliance intends to challenge the RIAA's tactics in the Courts, we can sympathize with the level of frustration that is out there and growing stronger on a daily basis." Since announcing plans to challenge the RIAA in court, Webcaster Alliance has been innundated with requests for information on the organization and its membership options. "We wanted to find a way to let new members know we appreciated their support and at the same time to let people know we understood their indignation with the way the RIAA is treating the American Public." The idea for the campaign, Gabriel says, was born in a conversation with Webcaster Alliance Treasurer Mark Glynn, who also hosts the popular "Funkin' Friday Nights" on NewOrleansRadio.com. "We wanted to give our members something they couldn't get anywhere else," said Glynn, "And that is how 'Royal-Tz' came to be." Glynn, a New Orleans native, says he is stunned by the reaction he's gotten from people who have seen the doll. "We wanted to make it fun, something people would look at and say 'That is SO cool!' - and I think we have created just that. Everyone that sees it, loves it. Most people start laughing right away and ask, 'How can I get one?'" The doll, complete with a little record album in the center and a small subpoena in its hand comes in two sizes, is not for sale but is available as a thank you gift for memberships or donations of $50 or more to Webcaster Alliance. A picture of the doll and information on donating is available at: http://www.webcasteralliance.com
