ARE YOU MAD ENOUGH TO POUND THESE SKINS? - Dallas/Ft. Worth’s Most Devisive Band’s Drummer Departs; Replacement Sought.
Website: http://www.themadscientists.biz March 20, 2007 (DENTON, TX) -- After nearly two years of keeping The Mad Scientists anchored to planet earth Christina Cooper leaves in order to focus on her visual art. On Friday, April 20, 2007, the drummer will play her final show with the band; in the meantime the band has begun auditions for the newest Scientist. The final show with the current line up of The Mad Scientists will take place in Denton at Secret Headquarters (210 E. Hickory St.) at 8pm. While the band has always used strange props for their stage shows, the last several shows have brought this aspect to new levels with such themes as The 1st Church of Mad Scientology. Christina’s final show will be no different with the band pulling out several strange surprises and an unexpected theme to be announced closer to the show date. Also on the bill will be Denton’s The Violent Squids. The remaining band members Brannon Barr (guitar and vocals) and Kim Fry (bass guitar) are sad to see their friend and fellow sonic scientist leave and wish her all the best in the exploration of her own creative endeavors. Brannon and Kim have begun auditioning for the newest Scientist since Christina refused their proposal of an experimental cloning technique to be done in an undisclosed location. Interested drummers may contact the band at TheMadScientists@mac.com. Or, to hear mp3s, visit the band’s website (http://www.TheMadScientists.biz) or mypace (http://www.myspace.com/TheMadScientists) While Christina is leaving the band to pursue a career in the visual arts, Brannon and Kim have no plans of slowing down. They are continuing work on the follow-up album to 2005’s debut, Geoparasitism, on which Christina played drums; not to mention increased gigging and a complete multi-media stage show to be debuted after the newest Scientist is properly initiated.
