Los Angeles, CA, February 4, 2013 – With the release of their debut EP “Elevate” on January 22, 2013, ascending UpRooted, made a splash on the iTunes & Amazon charts debuting at #4 on iTunes Reggae Chart, #9 on Amazon’s Reggae Chart, and #1 on Amazon’s International Rap Chart -a strong showing from Southern California’s up and coming indie reggae rockers.

Followed by a sold out co-headlining performance at the Roxy Theatre in W. Hollywood, presented by KROQ Locals Only, UpRooted has quickly started establishing a name for themselves as a rising star within their west coast scene. Following up their sold out performance, UpRooted will be embarking on an upcoming west coast tour in February in support of their release.

Highlighting their stylistically distinct sound, “Elevate” distinguishes UpRooted from the pack, featuring four tracks that showcase the band’s lyrical aptitude, unique persona, and musical diversity.

Hailing from the San Fernando Valley, UpRooted formed in 2009 with their sight’s set on defining their own voice and creating something unique, drawing inspiration from the diverse musical and cultural landscape of Southern California.

Overall the band’s sound and style provides listeners with a cohesive mix of hip-hop, reggae, and rock. Whether singing or rapping, the duel vocals of Jon Lane & Casey Goode flow seamlessly between smooth raps and harmonic melodies that meld perfectly over atmospheric synths, funk’d up bass lines and guitarist Eric Montgomery’s mix of chilled out reggae vibes and energetic, driving rock riffs.

With UpRooted’s debut EP, the band set out very simply to “bring it” according to Jon Lane, who further explained that, “in terms of sound, when we were writing and recording these songs, we just kept saying we need to bring it; musically, lyrically, we were just in the mind set that this is our debut record and we can’t hold anything back.” Casey Goode adds, “we’ve been touring, establishing a name for ourselves, building our fan base and spreading the word. We needed to give our fans the type of energetic, dynamic, and hitting record that they would expect from experiencing our live show and knowing our personalities. We felt that the selection of songs we chose on this release, stylistically showcased and summarized the embodiment of the band as a whole, defined the unique range and dynamic of the band musically, and really deals with what we’re currently into and about right now.”

If January is any sign of what we can expect in the coming months from UpRooted, 2013 looks to be a busy and prosperous year for this young and talented band. In addition to the release of “Elevate,” UpRooted will continue to write and record throughout the year, eventually working towards their first full length album, while also continuing to tour throughout the US in support of “Elevate”, including a stop at SXSW this Spring.

Fans can also expect to see the band continue to regularly release their signature video content that highlights their unique personalities, sense of humor, and comradery behind the scenes, as well as an official music video for Bury It; the band’s first single off “Elevate”.
