Toronto's Music Industry Advisory Council Selects SOCAN's Rodney Murphy

SOCAN's Education and Outreach Manager Rodney Murphy is among those selected to be on Toronto's Music Industry Advisory Council, a committee that will guide and support the economic and cultural development of the city's music industry, comprised of music industry members and some of Toronto's City Councillors.

"Rodney Murphy being chosen to serve on the Toronto Music Industry Advisory Council is testament to SOCAN's leading role in the music industry, and Rodney's expertise in helping to develop the careers of many of SOCAN's nearly 20,000 Toronto-area members," said Michael McCarty, SOCAN's Chief Membership & Business Development Officer.

The council will work with sectors of Toronto's thriving music industry and provide recommendations that will unite and benefit the city's growing music businesses and artists. Additionally, the council is slated to play an integral role in defining the Austin-Toronto Music City Alliance.

SOCAN congratulates Rodney Murphy and looks forward to his contributions. SOCAN members on the council include musicians Jay Douglas, Murray Foster, Amanda Martinez and Miranda Mulholland; publisher Vivian Barclay of Warner Chappell Music Canada; and Noah Mintz, owner-operator of The Lacquer Channel. Also on the council is Errol Nazareth, a regular contributor to the SOCAN magazine Words + Music.
