GIFTED 15-YEAR-OLD NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTIST PROMOTES DEBUT RELEASE WITH SINGLE TO RADIO
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nashville, TN (February 24th, 2014) - - Gareth Laffely, an exceptionally gifted 15-year-old Native American flutist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer, is promoting his debut full-length release, "The Journey", with a single to radio entitled "Spirit Horse". "Spirit Horse" explains Gareth, "is a mixture of traditional Native American Flute, classic rock, and modern pop music. There is an old legend about a spirit horse that would come to carry the souls of Native Americans into the next world. The title, like the song, displays transitions between the old and the new." Gareth is of Mi'kmaq/Cree descent and from Gallatin, Tennessee near Nashville. He enlisted two-time GRAMMY Award nominated hit songwriter and Dove Award winning producer Robert White Johnson (Celine Dion, Larnelle Harris, the Beach Boys, Edyta, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, .38 Special), top Nashville session musicians Dave Cleveland (Guitar), Mike Noble (Guitar), Jason Webb (Piano), Jeff Roach (Piano), Craig Nelson (Bass), Scott Williamson (Drums), Steve Brewster (Drums), Thornton Cline (cello), Susan Oliver (Background Vocals), and GRAMMY Award winner Gary Dales (engineer) to assist on his project. "The Journey" was released in July 2013.
Gareth has a revolutionary style that combines rock, pop, and world music. He is completely self taught on the Native American flute. He has been gaining recognition for his unique use of the Native American flute, his songwriting, and his ability to make a difference in the lives of others with his music by challenging teens everywhere to get involved with a cause and help make their community a better place. He has been capturing much fan excitement with his music and live performances across the United States and Canada. His recent participation in a GRAMMY U Amplifier contest sponsored by the Recording Academy and Hyundai Motors, where he finished in 3rd position for popular fan voting and several TV appearances have only helped to solidify his popularity.
Gareth's mission is to be a positive influence on other children, as well as encourage people to get involved in a cause, and also to follow their dreams.
"Anything is possible...You just have to dare to dream." - Gareth
