(HOUSTON, TX) – The 3rd Annual Springboard South Music Festival & Conference, a game-changing event designed to position independent artists for next level success, kicks off June 19 - 22, with five stages and 150 artists at Houston’s Warehouse Live, The George R. Brown Convention Center and additional area venues. The career-building conference, which features intensive mentoring, education, showcasing and networking programs, has helped launch the careers of a wide-range of artists, including two vocalists who were featured on American Idol, and three bands who landed record deals.
This year, Springboard South also debuts “The Band Mall,” a music business trade show that connects artists with key industry players in music education, production, management, booking agents, public relations, promotion, licensing, and distribution.
The first official Springboard South showcasing bands include SoulFruit (Houston, 80,000 Units Sold), Dustin Prinz (Oklahoma, 4,242,599 YouTube Views), Celeste Kellogg (Virginia, 42.4k Twitter), Big Shane (Louisiana, 22.9k Twitter) and Hazy Ray (New Orleans, 180+ Annual Performances). Comments Springboard South co-founder, Barry Coffing: “Our goal from the start has always been to give rising artists the resources, tools, exposure, and industry insight they need to move their careers forward. At the same time, our artists don’t get lost in a mass of performers, as is often the case with other music events. We give personalized, individual, relevant support – and the chance to play, be seen, and be heard by professionals who can help them.”
Springboard South will feature more than 200 shows from 150 artists, 30 of whom will be selected as official Springboard South artists, performing on multiple stages including the conference’s main stage at Houston’s Warehouse Live and receiving one-on-one mentoring from industry experts in areas including legal, social media, branding, media and promotions. Additionally, official Springboard South artists will receive professional broadcast quality performance footage from a high-definition, 5 camera shoot, a 24-track recording of their performance, and the opportunity to present their music to a panel of music supervisors.
There will also be the Launch Stage, which features a development slot for kids, teens and college acts.
Additional area venues and smaller stages will also be set-up for newer, start-up acts at Warehouse Live and nearby venues. Houston radio station KTSU is official sponsor of the Jazz Stage. Critically acclaimed jazz artist Dean James has been named Springboard South's first Mentor Artist.
Springboard South touches on virtually every genre including Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, EDM, Alternative, Indie, Singer/Songwriter, Hard Rock, Metal, Country, Latin, Jazz, Blues, and Gospel. The conference has emerged as an important stepping stone in the career’s of a number of artists, including:
